For several years, there have been continuing legislative debates across the US over whether landlords should be required to accept Section 8 vouchers or, instead, should be permitted to decline to participate in the Section 8 voucher program. At the end of 2021, a US federal district court in Iowa ruled on this type of case in favor of the tenant where the tenant, who is disabled, had requested that the landlord accept the Section 8 voucher as part of her request for accommodation.

– In January and February of this year, both parties submitted their briefs to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. There will likely be oral arguments in late spring to early summer.
